Understanding How the Performance Score Works
The Formula
Clippers uses a weighted performance score to calculate each clipper's share of a creator's fund:
score = views × 0.30
+ (likes + comments × 2 + shares × 3 + saves × 2) × 0.70Why Engagement Outweighs Views
Views can be gamed. Engagement signals genuine viewer interest. Comments show people cared enough to respond. Shares indicate viral potential. Saves signal lasting value.
By weighting engagement at 70%, the formula rewards clippers who produce genuinely compelling content over those who simply accumulate passive views.
How Payouts Are Calculated
Your payout = (your score / total score of all eligible clips in the fund) × fund amount × (1 - platform fee).
If you have 20% of the total performance score across all clips in a fund, you receive 20% of that fund's payout pool.
What Makes a Clip "Eligible"?
Clips must be approved by the creator and reach a minimum performance threshold. Clips flagged for fraudulent activity (artificial engagement) are automatically ineligible and may result in account suspension.
Syncing Frequency
Performance metrics are synced daily. Your clip's score updates every 24 hours. Monthly payouts use the final score at the end of the billing cycle.
